Job summary

Willmar Public Schools is seeking a Student Support Specialist to help create a safe, positive learning environment for all students at Roosevelt Elementary School. The role supports classroom instruction by implementing proactive behavior management strategies and supervising students during recess and other activities.

The ideal candidate has a High School Diploma or GED and knowledge of teaching practices, child development, and behavior management.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• General knowledge of the practices, methods and techniques used in teaching.
• Knowledge of child development fundamentals and concepts.
• Knowledge of problem solving and conflict resolution techniques.
• Knowledge of behavioral management strategies, crisis intervention and methods.
• Knowledge of district policies, guidelines, rules or philosophy pertaining to discipline and appropriate student behavior and consequences.

Responsibilities

• The Student Support Specialist helps create a safe, positive, and supportive learning environment for all students.
