Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Associate or Bachelor in Education, Special Education, Psychology, Human Services, or related field preferred.
• Experience with supporting students with ED and/or ID preferred.
• Strong instructional support and classroom management abilities.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, families and related staff.
• Commitment to learners with diverse learning and behavioral needs.

Responsibilities

• Assist with individual, small-group, and whole-class instruction under teacher direction.
• Provide teacher-directed academic help, reinforcement, prompting, redirection, and other instructional supports.
• Reinforce expectations, routines, and positive behavior; maintain a structured, safe classroom.
• Apply positive supports, interventions, and de-escalation per each student’s plans.
• Help implement IEP components and advance academic and behavioral goals.
• Collect and document student data, observations, and progress as directed.
• Assist during instruction, transitions, meals, recreation, and health education.
• Foster independence, communication, and appropriate social interactions.
• Supervise students to ensure health, safety and well-being throughout the day.
• Address challenging behaviors calmly and according to procedures.
