Job summary

Manassas Park City Schools is seeking a Full-Time Personal Care Assistant at Cougar Elementary School. The role provides one-to-one support for a student with special needs and collaborates with certified staff to deliver instructional and personal care services.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, eligibility to complete ParaPro within 30 days, and strong interpersonal skills to work with a diverse student population.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency required.
• Experience supporting people with disabilities preferred.
• Ability to work with a diverse population.
• Must complete ParaPro Course within 30 days of hire.
• Must obtain a qualifying score on the ParaPathways Assessment within 30 days of hire.
• Always displays a positive role model for students.
• Maintains confidentiality.
• Ability to speak clearly and write effectively.
• Exhibits sound and accurate judgment.

Responsibilities

• Delivers educational interventions designed by Special Education teachers to help students meet educational, academic, life skills, behavioral, physical, social, and emotional goals.
• Assists teachers with Special Education students to enable learning with minimal disruptions to other students.
• Assists students with basic dress and grooming self-care.
• Administers medications as trained, assigned, and directed.
• Attends to the physical needs of students, including handling equipment and mobility aids.
• Attends to health care needs of students, including potential feeding and toileting tasks.
