Job summary

Manassas Park City Schools is seeking an Instructional Assistant – Adaptive Special Education Curriculum at Manassas Park Elementary School to support students with special needs under a certified teacher. The role focuses on implementing plans, monitoring progress, and fostering an inclusive learning environment.

The position requires a high school diploma; prior experience with groups of children is preferred.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalency required.
Experience working with groups of children desired.
Ability to work with students at varying ability levels.
Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
Assist teachers with instructional activities and classroom management.
Strong interpersonal communication with parents and staff.

Responsibilities

Complies with school laws, policies, and regulations.
Assist teachers in evaluating student progress and implementing IEP objectives.
Implement instructional plans for individuals or small groups under teacher supervision.
Support daily personal care tasks as needed while maintaining student dignity.
Maintain instructional materials and student records; prepare materials and set up projects.
Monitor students during meals, recreation, and life enrichment activities.
Assist in behavior management and classroom organization as directed.
Perform clerical and instructional duties to support the teacher and school operations.
