Purpose Statement
The job of Student Supervision Aide is done for the purpose/s of supporting a safe and secure school environment; supervising students in various campus settings; enforcing school safety rules and expectations; assisting with orderly student movement throughout the campus; monitoring campus access points; responding to incidents and emergencies; reporting concerns to appropriate personnel; and supporting student accountability through the use of monitoring tools and procedures.
Essential Functions
Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math; understand written procedures, write routine documents, and speak clearly; and understand multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: policies, regulations, and rules; behavior and crisis management techniques; and safety practices and procedures.
SKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: using pertinent equipment; adhering to safety practices; and enforcing rules and regulations.
ABILITY is required to schedule activities; collate data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing specific, defined processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with specific, job-related data; and utilize specific, job-related equipment. Some problem solving may be required to identify issues and select action plans. Problem solving with data may require independent interpretation; and problem solving with equipment is limited. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: communicating with diverse groups; diffusing argumentative behavior; demonstrating patience and a receptive attitude toward students; maintaining confidentiality; working well independently and collaboratively with others; and displaying excellent tact and courtesy.
Responsibility
Responsibilities include: working under direct supervision using standardized procedures; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; operating within a defined budget. Utilization of some resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions.
Work Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling, and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 10% sitting, 35% walking, and 55% standing. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and in some varying atmospheric conditions.
Experience: Job related experience is desired.
Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
