Trenholm State Community College seeks a Retention and Advising Specialist to provide proactive academic support and advising initiatives aimed at improving student retention and degree completion. The role collaborates with instructional and student services to develop programs, monitor progress, and support at-risk students.

The position reports to the Director of the Student Success Center and may be contingent on grant funding.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required from a regionally accredited college or university.
• One year of experience in education, student personnel, counseling, human services, or related field.
• Ability to communicate with diverse audiences and collaborate with multiple units.

Responsabilités

• Facilitate students' academic progress by completing comprehensive individual needs assessments and developing individual academic plans.
• Monitor at-risk students and coordinate resources to enhance success.
• Coordinate outreach efforts for new and at-risk students.
• Establish an early alert communication system for faculty to identify students in need of support.
• Evaluate services and develop retention strategies to improve outcomes.
• Coach students through barriers toward degree completion and referrals to appropriate offices.
• Initiate and maintain relationships with counselors, faculty, and staff to support students.
• Attend staff meetings and prepare reports; contribute to retention strategies.
