Qualifications

• Experience as a peer counselor, mentor, tutor, student leader, volunteer, or support provider in education or youth programs.
• Ability to connect with participants while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Familiarity with academic challenges, stress management, and referral practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide respectful, strengths-based peer support to participants facing academic, personal, interpersonal, or social challenges.
• Listen actively, help participants identify concerns and goals, share practical strategies, and encourage responsible decision-making and self-advocacy.
• Build positive, professional relationships with participants while maintaining clear role boundaries.
• Encourage participation in tutoring, workshops, and college-readiness activities and other Upward Bound services.
• Support an inclusive environment that promotes belonging, resilience, and academic progress.
