Job summary

Southern University at New Orleans seeks a Community Outreach Advisor to strengthen engagement with the Educational Opportunity Centers TRIO Program and support access to postsecondary education for eligible individuals.

The Advisor builds partnerships, coordinates outreach activities, represents SUNO at events, and connects participants with admissions, financial aid, and career planning services while maintaining accurate records and reporting outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, social work, human development, student services, or a related field (or an associate degree with 3+ years related experience).
• At least two years of experience in education, counseling, social work, student services, human services, TRIO, outreach, case management, or a similar field.
• Experience working with diverse populations and community organizations.
• Demonstrated ability to plan and execute events, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
• Reliable transportation and ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends.”

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized guidance on admissions applications, financial aid, enrollment documents, and related requirements.
• Plan and conduct workshops on academic success, financial literacy, career readiness, and college-access topics.
• Maintain accurate records of participant contacts, services, referrals, and outcomes.
• Represent SUNO and the EOC TRIO Program at meetings, fairs, and community events.
• Coordinate schedules, outreach activities, and partner communications.
