Job summary

Minimum qualifications include 60 college hours or a paraprofessional assessment or Missouri substitute training; Special Services certification or prior paraprofessional experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• 60 college hours or passed the Paraprofessional Assessment or completed Missouri's online substitute training program.
• Special Services Teacher Certification or previous Special Services Paraprofessional experience, preferred

Responsibilities

• Maintains confidentiality of information gained through the performance and location of the position
• Discusses assigned teaching area with classroom teacher to coordinate instructional efforts
• Prepares lesson outline and plan in assigned area and submits outline to teacher for review
• Plans, prepares, and develops various teaching aids
• Creates learning materials geared to student's ability and interest
• Presents subject matter to students, utilizing variety of methods and techniques
• May prepare, administer, and grade examinations as directed by the teacher
• Assists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts
• Works closely with Special Services teacher(s) for the success of the students
• May confer with parents on progress of students as directed by the supervisor
• Supervises students during class, learning activities, and at play, as assigned
• Takes all reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
• May be required to transport students or to accompany students in transport as directed by supervisor
• May be required to assist students with personal cleanliness and self-care
• Complies with policy, procedures, regulations, and law
• Other duties and tasks as assigned
