Job summary

Streamwood Behavioral Healthcare System seeks a Teacher Assistant/Paraprofessional to work Full-Time under the Principal's direction. You will support instructional delivery, assist in classroom management, and help implement behavioral programs to foster student potential and self-esteem.

You will collaborate with teachers to maintain behavior charts, assist in grading, and contribute to safe, structured learning environments. A valid Illinois ISBE paraprofessional certificate is required.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Valid ISBE Paraprofessional certificate and Substitute Teacher Certificate required.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher and manage classroom environment under the teacher's leadership.
• Provide positive role modeling and support student educational and behavioral plans.
• Maintain daily and quarterly Behavior Charts in collaboration with the teacher.
• Assist in grading objective homework as directed by the teacher.
• Support crisis intervention and de-escalation to keep students, staff and visitors safe.
