Job summary

Middlesex County Public Schools is seeking a Dean of Students to support academics, behavior, attendance and discipline under the principal's supervision. The role involves mentoring students, counseling families, and coordinating with staff to resolve issues and improve student outcomes.

The position requires a Virginia teaching license with an admin endorsement preferred; 220-day calendar; salary scale Specialist III; Exempt status. Immediate starting date.

Qualifications

• Virginia Department of Education Teaching License is required.
• Postgraduate License with endorsement in Admin. and Supervision PK-12 is preferred.
• Experience with students at risk.
• Strong organizational and leadership skills.
• Ability to engage with students, families and school staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers, counselors, parents and students in resolving academic, behavior, and attendance issues.
• Maintain records of student disciplinary actions in accordance with laws and district policies.
• Counsel students and provide referrals for testing, guidance or services.
• Coordinate with families and school staff to address disciplinary problems and attendance issues.
• Contribute to developing policies for school safety and discipline; participate in hearings as needed.
