Job summary

BAYAC AmeriCorps is seeking an Academic & Expedition Support Specialist for Summit Public School:K2. This on-site role in El Cerrito/East Bay supports students with reading and math, mentors social-emotional growth, and helps schools engage students in the college planning process, including FAFSA and financial aid.

You will work one-on-one or in small groups to help students reach milestones, while collaborating with the Dean of Expedition and school staff to foster student success.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching, tutoring or mentoring youth in education settings.
• Strong communication with students, families and staff.
• Organizational skills for planning activities and schedules.
• Patience and adaptability to support varying student needs.
• Passion for youth development and community impact.
• High school diploma or equivalent; education coursework a plus.
• Commitment to on-site service requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one or small-group support to reach grade-level milestones in reading and math.
• Be a positive role model, promoting social-emotional skills and student engagement.
• Support the Dean of Expedition with college planning, FAFSA and financial aid work for seniors.
