Zusammenfassung

BAYAC AmeriCorps is seeking an Academic & Expedition Support Specialist for Summit Public School:K2. This on-site role in El Cerrito/East Bay supports students with reading and math, mentors social-emotional growth, and helps schools engage students in the college planning process, including FAFSA and financial aid.

You will work one-on-one or in small groups to help students reach milestones, while collaborating with the Dean of Expedition and school staff to foster student success.

Qualifikationen

BAYAC (Bay Area Youth Agency Consortium) is a National Service program with Bay Area Community Resources (BACR), dedicated to empowering youth in the San Francisco Bay Area. Our AmeriCorps Members engage in a service term at schools and community organizations, fostering skill development, emotional growth, and meaningful community engagement to help youth succeed.

Role Description

This is a AmeriCorps service role for an Academic & Expedition Support Specialist at Summit Public School:K2 with Bay Area Youth Agency Consortium (BAYAC) AmeriCorps. In this on-site role, located in El Cerrito/East Bay community. You will support students by providing one-on-one or small-group support to help students reach grade-level milestones, particularly in reading and math. Be a positive role model, helping students build social-emotional skills, positive behavior, and school engagement. Support Dean of Expedition as they work with seniors through the colleges, exploring careers, and completing the FAFSA and financial aid applications.

Qualifications

• Experience in teaching, tutoring, or mentoring youth in an educational setting.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to engage with diverse groups of students, families, and staff
• Organizational skills for planning activities and managing schedules effectively
• Patience and adaptability to support the varying needs of students and handle challenges
• Passion for youth development and dedication to impacting the community through education
• High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework or degree in education or a related field is a plus
• Ability to commit to the role’s service requirements and work on-site
