Job summary

Florida State University seeks a developmental life coach for the Center for Academic Retention & Enhancement. You will guide CARE students on academic success, explore majors, monitor progress, and refer resources to promote persistence toward degree completion.

The role involves interactive coaching, notes management, and collaboration with colleagues to coordinate targeted student support. A bachelor’s degree with experience is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of experience or high school diploma with 6+ years of experience.
• Knowledge of University rules and regulations.
• Ability to extract complex academic information and maintain confidentiality.
• Experience in student advising, counseling, or working one-on-one with people in a professional or academic setting.

Responsibilities

• Focuses on student development and success for CARE students, including outreach and referrals.
• Provide individualized guidance related to academic success including general education requirements, major exploration, and graduation tracking.
• Interpret and communicate academic policies, procedures, and University requirements; monitor academic progress and proactively engage students showing early signs of academic difficulty.
• Facilitate coaching conversations that promote student development, confidence, and self-efficacy.
• Maintain meeting notes, referral documentation and intervention history in the student success platform.
• Collaborate with other colleagues including Engagement Specialists, Academic Guides, and Student Persistence Specialist.
