Job summary

Denver Public Schools is seeking a qualified professional to create and implement systems supporting student behavior and attendance, ensuring a safe and productive educational experience. You will reinforce classroom culture and communicate behavioral expectations to students and families.

The role emphasizes collaboration with teachers, parents, and school staff, with a focus on equity and access to high-quality education for all students, including those with chronic attendance concerns.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or relevant work experience required.
  • Three years minimum experience in collaborative instructional improvement.
  • Experience working with alternative youth and service providers preferred.
  • Lead for racial and educational equity and dismantling inequity in our community.
  • Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.

Responsibilities

  • Actively engages in identifying student needs and provides solutions where necessary.
  • Consults with teachers, parents, and school personnel about learning, social, and behavioral issues.
  • Maintains a positive school environment through conflict resolution and restorative approaches; implements feedback to develop positive social skills.
  • Performs attendance-related advising to assigned student caseload and motivates attendance goals.
  • Develops community partnerships aligned with identified student needs at the school.
  • Establishes and maintains accurate student records regarding attendance and disciplinary issues; analyzes data findings for leadership.
  • Refers students to school counselors or social workers when situations escalate.
  • Coordinates with school counseling and staff to be kept apprised on issues affecting academic performance and social conflicts.
  • Promotes school and in-home literacy enrichment for at-risk students.
