Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Administer AZELLA assessments per ADE and district procedures.
  • Complete required training and maintain certification for assessments.
  • Schedule, organize, and prepare testing materials and environments.
  • Ensure assessment security and confidentiality throughout testing.
  • Support district and site assessment activities as assigned.
  • Provide direct support for behavioral, social-emotional, or organizational needs.
  • Mentor students to promote positive behavior and engagement.
  • Implement behavior interventions and MTSS supports as needed.
  • Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and administrators to support student success.
  • Supervise students before, during lunch/recess, and after school as assigned.
  • Participate in training related to behavior intervention, crisis prevention, and supervision.

Position Summary

The Student Success Assistant supports student success by assisting with state-mandated English language proficiency assessments and providing proactive student support services throughout the school day. This position helps foster a positive school culture by supporting behavior interventions, facilitating structured student engagement during recess and other non‑instructional times, and assisting staff in creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment. The Student Success Assistant may administer the Arizona English Language Learner Assessment (AZELLA) and other assessments as assigned in accordance with state requirements and district procedures.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Associate degree or college coursework in education, child development, behavioral health, or a related field, preferred.
  • Experience working with school‑aged children, preferred.
  • Experience supporting student behavior and social‑emotional development, preferred.
  • Ability to meet Arizona Department of Education requirements for administering AZELLA assessments.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in spoken and written English sufficient to administer state assessments and follow standardized testing procedures with fidelity.
  • Possession of a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card or ability to obtain one prior to employment.

Essential Functions

Assessment Support:

  • Administer AZELLA assessments in accordance with Arizona Department of Education requirements and district procedures.
  • Complete required training and maintain certification necessary to administer assessments.
  • Schedule, organize, and prepare testing materials and testing environments.
  • Ensure assessment security and confidentiality requirements are maintained.
  • Support other district and site assessment activities as assigned.

Student Support and Campus Culture:

  • Provide direct support to students requiring behavioral, social‑emotional, or organizational assistance.
  • Provide proactive student mentoring and support to promote positive behavior, engagement, and social‑emotional growth.
  • Assist with implementation of behavior intervention strategies and support plans.
  • Assist in implementing school‑wide behavior expectations, restorative practices, and positive behavior support systems.
  • Facilitate structured play, games, and student engagement activities during recess and other non‑instructional periods.
  • Build positive relationships with students to promote school connectedness and engagement.
  • Support conflict resolution and problem‑solving among students.
  • Monitor student behavior and provide redirection using district‑approved practices.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe, orderly, and positive campus environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers, counselors, administrators, and other staff to support student success.
  • Support school‑wide culture, climate, attendance, and engagement initiatives.
  • Support school‑based MTSS and student success efforts through implementation of targeted behavioral, attendance, and engagement supports.
  • Assist with student supervision before school, during lunch and recess, and after school as assigned.
  • Participate in required training related to behavior intervention, crisis prevention, student supervision, and assessment administration.
  • Participate in professional learning opportunities related to student support and assessment administration.

Other Duties:

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to walk, stand, and move throughout the campus for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to supervise students in indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and staff.
