Job summary

Southeast Oklahoma State University in Durant, OK is seeking an Academic Advisor for the Advising Center to support undergraduate and graduate students. You will collaborate with faculty and campus offices to create degree plans, assist with registration, financial aid questions, and navigate Colleague Self-Service and Canvas.

The role reports to the Director of University Advising, requires a Bachelor's degree and familiarity with non-traditional students.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Understanding the needs of incoming students.
• Familiarity with non-traditional students and online learning.
• Knowledge of university services including financial aid, degree completion activities, and academic support programs.
• Excellent computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Onboarding: communicate with prospective students regarding transfer evaluation, program acceptance, and graduation requirements.
• Create individualized degree plans; ensure plan is on file in Colleague Self-Service.
• Identify admissions and financial aid problems and assist with resolution.
• Help students navigate Colleague Self-Service and Canvas.
• Provide advising for new and current students and assist with planning and registration.
• Maintain communications and tracking for student advisees; monitor progress toward degree completion.
• Collaborate with faculty to keep degree plans/current.
• Provide departmental degree clearance documentation.
• Communicate proactively with assigned students to support continued enrollment.
