Job summary

The City University of New York's College Discovery Program at Hostos Community College seeks an Academic College Discovery Student Support Specialist. The role provides counseling, advisement, and financial aid guidance to students with high potential, reporting to the College Discovery Program Director.

Responsibilities include managing caseloads, leading seminars, and participating in program and college-wide committees. In-person presence is essential; evening/weekend hours may be required.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in counseling, social work, or psychology.
• Two years' related experience.
• Note: not a mental health counselor/practitioner position.
• LMSW license preferred.
• Experience in higher education setting preferred.
• Availability to work evening and weekend hours.

Responsibilities

• Manages an assigned caseload with developmental academic advisement and counseling.
• Provides financial aid information and conducts group counseling sessions.
