Job summary

Windham School District is seeking a Student Advisor to support placement and testing of students within the educational environment and to provide coaching to teachers for instructional improvement. The role emphasizes assisting with campus leadership and ensuring compliance with district policies.

Requirements include a Master’s degree, proper SBEC certification (or probationary eligibility with college documentation), and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree from a CHEA-accredited college or USDE-recognized institution.
  • SBEC School Counselor certificate or eligibility for probationary certification with college letter.
  • SBEC Mid-Management/Administrator/Principal certificate or equivalent administrative certificate, or probationary eligibility.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, assess, and enroll students in programming aligned with educational needs.
  • Maintain appropriate class sizes by placing students in suitable programs.
  • Support district goals and comply with policies in student placement.
  • Provide resources and assessments for college and career planning.
  • Advise students on educational decisions and share program information.
  • Maintain GED examiner status and coordinate GED/EA/vocational testing.
  • Develop relationships with teachers to address student misconduct.
  • Assist campus leadership in staff development and meetings.
  • Represent administration on committees determining student placement.
  • Collaborate with TDCJ and district administration.
  • Attend staff development sessions and other agency trainings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professional conduct as per policies.
