About Kings Education

Kings Education is a premium education organization specializing primarily in academic pathways for international students aged 16-22. About the Role

We are looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Student Success Advisor to join our team embedded at the University of Wisconsin – Stout Polytechnic. Student Success and Academic Advisement is an integral part of both the Kings Premium Universities (KPU) and Graduate Success (GSP) programs, ensuring that each student receives the proper guidance to reach their maximum potential for a successful future and enriching career. The Student Success Advisor is responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering a comprehensive post-secondary transfer and graduate advising program based on the development and individual needs of international students.

This is a dynamic role that requires someone who takes initiative, manages tasks independently, and genuinely invests in student outcomes. This is not a role for someone who needs constant direction. Our SSAs are expected to own their caseload, anticipate what students need before problems arise, and communicate proactively with their advisees, the university partners, and regional education agencies. The right candidate will be a reliable, contributing member of a small, collaborative team.

Responsibilities
At the Core
  • Manage a caseload of international students throughout their academic pathway and transfer process
  • Counsel students on admission criteria and other factors in the higher education decision process.
  • Monitor academic standing and proactively reach out to students on probation, suspension, or dismissal
  • For students who are academically on track, identify opportunities for additional learning, professional development, extracurricular engagement, and improving overall experience
  • Lead regular workshops and advising sessions to help students build competitive profiles as it pertains to campus activities, personal and/or academic projects, employment, community service, etc.
  • Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely records in our student management system
  • Assist in the coordination of I-20 documentation, transfer paperwork, and enrollment verification
  • Review student registrations each term to confirm full-time status and major alignment
  • Communicate regularly with Regional Managers and agency partners to ensure no surprises in student progress
  • Submit final reports, early alerts, and end-of-term documentation on schedule
  • Plan and execute end-of-term student engagement activities
  • Guide students through transfer preparation and readiness during semester breaks
Beyond the Caseload
  • Accurately communicate and support both Kings and the host university's academic, administrative, and program policies.
  • Help students adjust to academic college culture in the US – plagiarism, study and note-taking skills, classroom etiquette, and other skills needed to succeed in college.
  • Provide holistic guidance on academics, time management, healthy habits (ex., sleep, scroll time, etc.), emotional well-being, and job-related expectations.
  • Assist students with career education and professional development, including tailored support in resume writing and job search strategies, to ensure their needs and goals are met.
  • Work in tandem with the host university's career services department to provide extensive guidance on CPT and OPT employment, programs that allow international students to gain work experience in the United States as permitted by DHS.
  • Remain current on national university and college transfer requirements and regulations
  • Develop and maintain a cooperative relationship with the host university staff
  • Develop and maintain a cooperative relationship with admissions staff at the colleges and universities the KPU students apply to.
  • Maintain a library of college preparation, admissions, and career readiness resources for students.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to promote KPU activities on social media outlets.
  • Support and collaborate with the Student Experience/Services Team (activities, college tours, student housing, social media, etc.)

Note: You may be invited to attend conferences, assist teams at our other locations, or participate in professional development opportunities. Occasionally, this may require travel.

Requirements
  • Experience in academic advising, international student services, college admissions, or a related student-facing role
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple deadlines independently
  • Work effectively across cultures, while enthusiastically supporting students from diverse national and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Superb English writing skills with the ability to revise and edit various types of documents
  • Fluency in undergraduate and graduate course materials and the ability to teach core academic skills such as research writing, analytical reading, and presentations.
  • Tact, patience, and diplomacy, particularly with non-native English speakers
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Must work in-person
  • Bachelor's degree in a closely related field or equivalent experience
  • Experience teaching ESL to/working with students from a variety of cultural backgrounds preferred
