The Associate Graduate Student Coordinator provides administrative and student-services support for the Department of Psychology’s doctoral programs. Under the supervision of the Graduate Student Coordinator, this position manages student hiring and advisement, tuition abatements, prospective student applications, progression and graduation clearance documents, and alumni tracking. The position serves as a liaison between the department and the Graduate School and supports the development and administration of program policies and procedures. This role helps ensure the doctoral programs remain in compliance with American Psychological Association, University, and Graduate School requirements.
Coordinates admissions tracking including responding to inquiries, updating admissions webpages, organizing open houses, visiting days, admission letter dissemination, compiling demographic data to assist with recruitment efforts, and closing out applications in admissions system.

Under supervision of the Graduate Coordinator, the Assoc Graduate Coordinator will lead all alumni relations activities including developing and maintaining a system and strategies to best track and communicate with alumni from our graduate program.

Assists the Graduate Coordinator with hiring graduate students who are filling Teach Assistant and Graduate Teaching department lines and other full-time university sponsored roles, and processing their associated tuition abatements. Assists the Graduate Director and Graduate Coordinator with Teaching Assistant assignments.

Assists the Graduate Coordinator in a student advisement of degree progression including updating student file notes through the departmental tracking database using DegreeWorks, completing milestone paperwork, and the graduation clearance process. Organizes student files, helps conduct checks for completion, and interfaces with graduate student faculty mentors to collect missing documents. Follows and ensures compliance with federal state and University policies and procedures.

Coordinates the logistics of visiting prospective graduate students to include processing travel, receipts, etc. Assist incoming students with first year course requirements and registration and inform students of their fiscal responsibilities with respect to fees, etc. Informa all students of any relevant fellowship opportunities. Submit nominations for prospective students to receive Graduate School awards. Processes student awards through the financial aid office.

Assist in formulating agenda items and take minutes at various committee and program meetings. Improves and regularly updates the Psychology Graduate Program website pages, interfaces with Psychology Student Advisory Board to relay important information about deadlines and opportunities and gathers graduate student achievements to display on the informational screens and in our newsletters.

Contribute to the success of the Department of Psychology and the College of Arts and Sciences by performing all other duties as assigned.
