Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools seeks a part-time student supervisor to assist during district-sponsored activities, programs, and events to promote safe behavior and maintain an orderly environment.

Expected Start Date: September 1, 2026. The role supports student safety with daily supervision and coordination with staff, while adhering to district policies and background clearance requirements.

Qualifications

  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • Fingerprints and successful Washington State Patrol (WSP), FBI background, and sexual misconduct clearances required.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification required, or ability to obtain certification within 30 days of employment.
  • Knowledge of building policies and procedures related to playground and lunchroom student behavior.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to exercise fairness in dealing with students.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work and student relationships with a variety of people in a multi-cultural, diverse socio-economic setting.

Responsibilities

  • Observes and monitors student behavior during district activities to promote safe, orderly environment across arrivals, lunch, field trips.
  • Intervenes to support students during activities; follows procedures; reports incidents as required.
  • Provides school environment support during activities and checks for unsafe situations; assists with check in/out.
  • Communicates with program staff and District departments about daily supervision matters.
