Job summary

Florida National University seeks a Retention Coordinator to lead institution-wide retention strategies. The role collaborates with academic and administrative units, analyzes student data to identify trends, and supports policy development that strengthens student persistence.

The coordinator serves as liaison to the Retention Committee and ensures compliance with FERPA, Title IX, FIPA, GDPR, and related regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; master's preferred in Education, Higher Ed Administration, Data Analytics, or related field.
• Experience in student services, institutional research, advising, or retention initiatives.
• Strong analytical skills and experience with student information systems and data tools.
• Proficiency with SIS platforms, data analysis tools, and retention/early alert systems used in higher education.
• Excellent organizational, planning, and project management abilities with ability to handle multiple priorities.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate sound judgment with sensitive information.

Responsibilities

• Partner with academic departments and student support units to design and implement retention strategies.
• Collaborate with the Retention Committee to evaluate needs and recommend interventions.
• Support policy development related to student retention, persistence, and re-engagement.
• Collect and analyze historical and current student data to identify attrition causes.
• Produce retention dashboards, reports, and presentations for leadership.
• Monitor retention initiatives and adjust based on data-driven insights.
• Coordinate early alert systems, outreach campaigns, and re-enrollment efforts.
• Maintain documentation of retention programs, workflows, and outcomes.
• Assist in developing training materials on retention best practices.
• Serve as central point of contact for retention inquiries and cross-department coordination.
• Facilitate communication among Student Services, academic units, and administrative departments to ensure alignment.
• Maintain confidentiality and compliance with FERPA, Title IX, FIPA, GDPR and related laws.
• Perform other duties to support the Office of the VP of Operations.
