Job summary

NYU Grossman School of Medicine is seeking two Student Interns to assist with recruiting for an epidemiology study on self-reported drug use among nightclub and EDM festival attendees. The study is National Institute of Drug Abuse funded.

Interns will work with a supervisor to approach entrants, collect saliva samples from a subset, and help track recruitment and payments. Ideal candidates are committed, motivated, and able to work independently in small teams.

Qualifications

• Must be a student pursuing a degree in a field related to public health.
• Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Assist with approaching individuals about to enter nightclubs and dance festivals and briefly determine eligibility and interest in participation in the study.
• If the participant volunteers to provide a saliva sample, assist in collection, labeling and tracking of the sample.
• Help track recruitment and participant payments.
• Contact participants to take an optional online follow-up survey.
• Assist in shipment of saliva samples.
• Attend short periodic team meetings to discuss progress.
