Job summary

California State University, Stanislaus is seeking a STEM Education Student Research Assistant to support a project on student engagement and belonging in STEM. The position involves collecting and analyzing survey data and conducting interviews and focus groups with first-year biology majors.

The role offers 5–10 hours per week (up to 40 during breaks) at the Turlock Campus, with start planned for Sept 15, 2026 and end on June 15, 2027, under the supervision of Dr. Matthew Cover.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate students must be registered/enrolled in a minimum of six Fall/Spring units.
• Post-baccalaureate students in a graduate program must be registered in a minimum of four Fall/Spring units.
• A strong interest in STEM education; previous experience with qualitative research and/or mentoring of undergraduate students.

Responsibilities

• Collect and analyze quantitative data (surveys) and qualitative data (interviews and focus groups) for students in a first-year experience course primarily for biology majors.
• Collaborate with Dr. Matthew Cover, professor of biology.
