Job summary

University of New Mexico Taos is seeking a Student Recruiter to manage recruitment and outreach, guiding students through enrollment and funding processes. The role collaborates with high schools, colleges fairs, and community partners to expand Taos campus enrollment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree; at least 1 year of related experience.
• Experience in student recruitment, admissions, enrollment, or a related student support field.
• Experience working with diverse student populations, including first‑generation college students, adult learners, and rural/underserved communities.
• Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
• Knowledge of financial aid programs, scholarship opportunities, and FAFSA processes.
• Experience planning and participating in recruitment events, community outreach activities, workshops, or informational presentations.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to assist students, families, school personnel, and community partners.
• Experience providing individualized guidance and support to students or clients.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, SIS, CRM software, or similar database applications.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across departments while maintaining confidentiality.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Develop and carry out recruitment and outreach activities to increase enrollment at UNM-Taos.
• Represent UNM-Taos at area high schools, college fairs, community events, and other recruitment activities.
• Provide students and families with individualized guidance as they navigate the college enrollment process.
• Cross-train to provide financial aid counseling, FAFSA assistance, and related functions during peak periods.
• Help students move smoothly from recruitment and admission to financial aid, advising, registration, and enrollment.
• Collaborate across Student Affairs to strengthen enrollment while supporting staff workload during busy periods.
