The Student Recruiter serves in a dual role within UNM-Taos Student Affairs, supporting the recruitment, enrollment, retention, and also financial aid needs of prospective and current students.
The position develops and carries out recruitment and outreach activities to increase enrollment at UNM-Taos. This work focuses on meeting the unique needs of our community college students, including first-generation students, adult and returning learners, transfer students, dual credit students, and students from rural and underserved communities.
The Student Recruiter represents UNM-Taos at area high schools, college fairs, community events, and other recruitment activities. The position also provides students and their families with individualized guidance as they navigate the college enrollment process.
Recruitment remains the primary responsibility of the position. However, the employee is cross-trained to provide direct support in the Financial Aid Office, particularly during peak and high-volume periods. This support may include financial aid counseling, FAFSA assistance, file review, documentation, eligibility requirements, and other financial aid functions.
This dual-role position reflects how closely recruitment, enrollment, and financial aid are connected for community college students. By working collaboratively across Student Affairs, the position helps students move more smoothly from recruitment and admission to financial aid, advising, registration, and enrollment.
The dual-role structure also allows UNM-Taos to provide students with more consistent support throughout the enrollment process while increasing the Financial Aid Office's capacity during critical processing periods. Ultimately, the position helps remove barriers, strengthen enrollment efforts, and support students from their first contact with UNM-Taos through successful enrollment.
This position may require some evening and weekend hours as needed.
