Job summary

State of Michigan’s MDOT is seeking a Student Assistant to sort, scan, and index records, convert file types, and perform quality checks. You will package records for transfer and work with retention staff to ensure proper filing and destruction in compliance with laws and procedures.

Applicants must be enrolled in a vocational/technical program or post-secondary institution, maintain at least six credits, and provide proof of enrollment.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in vocational or technical school, or post-secondary educational institution.
• MDOT requires enrollment in at least six credit hours per semester/term excluding summers and continuously enrolled and earning the required credits.
• Proof of enrollment must be submitted (unofficial transcripts, acceptance letter, current schedule, or tuition receipt showing balance $0.00).
• All new hires must pass pre-employment drug test and physical (if applicable) and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Sort, scan, and index physical records into electronic formats.
• Perform file type conversions and quality checks on scanned and physical materials.
• Package physical records for transfer to the Records Center.
• Collaborate with records retention staff to ascertain filing and destruction requirements.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and procedures.
