Job summary

Orange County Public Schools seeks an experienced paraprofessional to support assigned programs within schools in Orlando, FL. You will assist teachers, manage attendance and records, and help maintain a safe, structured learning environment for students.

The role involves working with students with diverse needs, including those with significant disabilities, and may require crisis response and collaboration with district staff. Paraprofessional certification can substitute for formal education.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or higher; or at least sixty (60) semester hours from an accredited institution of higher education supplemented by a minimum of three (3) years progressively knowledgeable and responsible experience.
• May require working directly with students with significant disabilities and/or severe behavioral disorders.
• Passing a paraprofessional certification exam (e.g., ParaPro) can substitute for the educational requirement.

Responsibilities

• Responds to internal and external customers in a timely, accurate, courteous and empathetic manner representing OCPS.
• Provides assistance and support in an assigned functional program.
• May respond to crisis situations at schools and aid in creating a safe learning environment.
• Performs routine to moderately complex administrative duties such as attendance and student records, reports, exams, filing, and inquiries.
• Maintains safety and discipline during program activities and supports student progress.
