Orange County Public Schools is seeking a paraprofessional to support teachers and students in an educational or child care setting. You will work with children individually or in small groups, providing basic instruction in reading, writing, math, spelling, art, or other activities as directed by the teacher.

The role involves supervising students, assisting in lesson preparation, and supporting learning progress with documentation and collaboration with staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred; basic mathematical and reading skills required.
• Ability to fulfill the dexterity and physical requirements of the work.
• Vocational training or work experience in a licensed child care environment preferred; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Responsabilités

• Monitors activities and behavior of children to ensure safety and conduct.
• Assists teachers in supervising learning activities and provides learning support.
• Provides instruction to students as prescribed by the supervising teacher; reinforces skills.
• Assists teachers in checking and evaluating students' work and reinforces skills.
• Assists in managing student behavior and maintaining classroom order.
• Prepares lesson plans and assists in developing classroom activities and learning tools.
• Assists in diagnosing student math and communication skills and documents learning progress.
• Prepares instructional materials and performs support tasks (copying, laminating, typing, filing).
• Coordinates with media center staff for classroom resources; sets up equipment for instruction.
• Assists in preparing classroom displays and learning materials.
• Prepares instructional reports and maintains attendance records; learns bus routes.
• Maintains student records and data; may enter scores.
• May supervise hallways, lunchroom, restrooms, and bus duty.
• May assist in labs and translate materials for students.
• Keeps up to date on current technology used in OCPS; attends trainings.
• Keeps timely and accurate information as part of job responsibilities.
