Job summary

Orange County Public Schools in Florida is seeking a paraprofessional to support teachers and preschool students in a dynamic classroom environment. You will reinforce instructional skills, assist with activities, and help prepare materials and displays to enhance learning experiences.

The role involves coordinating with staff, monitoring behavior, and assisting in various learning stations, with training provided on OCPS technologies and classroom procedures.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher or sixty (60) semester hours from an accredited institution (transcript required).
• Paraprofessional certification can substitute to meet highly qualified status.
• Ability to fulfill dexterity and physical requirements for pre-school children; prior licensed childcare preferred.

Responsibilities

• Responds to internal and external customers in a timely, courteous manner representing OCPS.
• Monitors pre-kindergarten children to ensure safety and conduct.
• Assists teachers in supervision and learning activities in the classroom.
• Provides instruction as prescribed by supervising teacher using engaging activities.
• Assists in assessing progress and reinforcing skills.
• Assists with gross motor and fine motor activities.
• Prepares instructional materials and supports lesson planning.
• Documents records of learning activities and diagnoses when applicable.
• Sets up classroom resources and equipment for instruction.
• Maintains attendance records and seating; learns bus routes.
• Maintains data records and may monitor hallways, lunchroom, restrooms and bus duty.
• Supports teachers with labs and instructional information for students.
• Keeps up to date on district technology and attends related trainings.
