Job description

Student Programs Advisor II (Study Abroad Advisor)

Join the Office of Overseas Studies at the USC Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences as a Student Programs Advisor II. You will support USC students in planning, enrolling in, and experiencing international study abroad programs.

Responsibilities
  • Advise students on all aspects of study abroad, including program selection, application processes, course alignments, cost, funding, visas, travel logistics, health & safety, and cultural adjustment.
  • Collaborate with academic advisors and the articulation office to integrate overseas courses into students’ study plans.
  • Evaluate student applications, grant or deny program admission, and provide alternative recommendations.
  • Manage logistics for the assigned program portfolio, including invoicing and transcript processing.
  • Coordinate exchanges with partner universities, advise inbound students, facilitate DS‑2019 documentation, and liaise with receiving units.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with partner universities, third‑party providers, and service vendors; draft agreements and update program details.
  • Promote programs through events, marketing materials, website content, and the study abroad ambassador program.
  • Oversee the operations of USC‑administered programs, including budgeting, banking, payroll, and logistics in coordination with resident directors.
  • Design and deliver pre‑departure orientations and re‑entry programming.
  • Monitor and assess health, safety, and security risks abroad; support students with housing, academic, and conduct issues.
  • Provide input on program budgeting and monitor expenditures for cost effectiveness.
  • Gather data, prepare status reports, and support program development and review.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of program policies and procedures.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to staff, student workers, volunteers, and graduate assistants.
  • Maintain professional currency through participation in professional associations and represent Overseas Studies in national and international groups.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree.
  • Five or more years of study abroad advising or international program coordination experience.
  • Proficiency in one or more foreign languages.
  • Experience with Terra Dotta Systems or similar platforms.
  • One year or more of study or work experience abroad.
  • Experience creating and managing web content.
Compensation and Benefits
