Job summary

The Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine seeks a student tutor to support Pharmacy School students with instructional help outside regular classes. Tutoring typically occurs in groups, but may be offered one-on-one when a group cannot be formed.

As a tutor, you will promote LECOM's mission, maintain confidentiality (FERPA/HIPAA), and communicate professionally with faculty, students, and visitors. You will report to the Director of Student Performance and Retention and submit bi-weekly time

Qualifications

• Current LECOM Pharmacy student with a GPA of 3.0 in the tutored course.
• Must be approved by the Director of Student Promotion and Retention.
• Tutoring outside regular classes, offered in groups or individually when needed.

Job description

JOB SUMMARY

The student tutor will provide students who need assistance in Pharmacy School with instructional help outside of their normal classes. Assistance is typically provided to groups, but can be offered individually, if a group cannot be formed.

CHARACTERISTIC JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Promote and preserve the mission of LECOM;
• Act in a friendly, professional manner when dealing with faculty, students and visitors at all times;
• Maintain confidentiality (i.e. FERPA / HIPAA), professional appearance and pleasant demeanor;
• Meet with those students, on an as needed basis, that have been assigned to them by the Director of Student Performance and Retention while providing individual or group instruction that will help the student or students improve his/her performance;
• Student tutors will regularly provide the Director of Student Performance and Retention with the names of those students who fail to attend scheduled sessions and those whose performance has improved to a level where tutoring assistance is no longer necessary;
• Will report to the Director of Student Performance and Retention;
• Bi-weekly time sheets will be submitted to the students direct report; and
• Other duties as needed / assigned by the Director and/or said designee to maintain efficient and effective daily operations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and experience equivalent to: at least one (1) semester as a current LECOM Pharmacy Student with a grade point average of 3.0 in the course tutored and as an overall grade point average. Candidates must be approved by the Director of Student Promotion and Retention.
