Job summary

Oregon State University’s School of Writing, Literature, and Film seeks a student employee to support outreach, marketing, and campus engagement.

You will design posters and invitations, manage social media, update the school website, and distribute materials online and on campus.

This on-site role runs during the fall term with potential continuation; strong writing and reliable, friendly service are essential. Afternoon availability is preferred and training will be provided.

Job description

Position Duties
  • Outreach and Marketing
  • Designing posters, invitations, and other promotional materials
  • Communicating with faculty/students/staff regarding School events
  • Ordering materials from OSU Printing and Mailing
  • Distributing outreach materials online, on campus, and in the community
  • Website and Social Media Management
  • Managing content on social media platforms
  • Updating the School website and creating new web content
  • Promoting events on the School’s online calendar
  • General Office Support
  • Assisting with SWLF event preparation and Advising programming
  • Assisting students, faculty, and general public that come into main office
  • Assisting with opening and closing duties in main office as needed

Qualifications

  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
  • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
  • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
  • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term* Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term* *International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Work Conditions/Schedule

  • The position will run for fall term, with the possibility of staying on through the full academic year.
