Job summary

The Salt Lake City School District is seeking a part-time Student Nutrition Worker to assist in meal preparation and service during school hours in South Salt Lake, Utah. The role requires current district high school student eligibility and a willingness to obtain a Food Handler’s Permit.

Starting wage is $13.00 hourly; position is non-contract and non-exempt, with up to 10 hours per week. Training and supervision by the Nutrition Manager are provided.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older and pass a criminal background check.
• Able to obtain a Food Handler’s Permit within two weeks of hire.
• Must be a current district high school student eligible to work.
• Able to communicate effectively in English (written and verbal).

Responsibilities

• Prepare, arrange, and serve food and beverages to meet nutrition requirements.
• Serve items to students and staff in a safe, efficient manner.
• Interact positively to maintain a welcoming dining environment.
• Clean utensils, equipment and dining areas to maintain sanitary conditions.
• Maintain and operate food service equipment safely.
• Stock foods, condiments and supplies for regular service.
• Lift up to 50 pounds as needed and handle occasional physical tasks.
• Answer inquiries about meals, pricing, and program guidelines.
• Attend required meetings and collaborate with other units as needed.
• Maintain regular attendance and adapt to changing priorities.
