Job summary

Select Specialty Hospital in Wilmington, DE is seeking a Student Nurse Technician (Future RN) for PRN overnight shifts. The role requires current enrollment in a nursing program and completion of first-year fundamentals, with BLS required on hire.

You will gain hands-on experience across post-ICU care while supporting patient needs and daily care tasks. The position offers extensive orientation, potential advancement opportunities, and benefits with eligibility for 401k after meeting hours

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited nursing school (ADN or BSN) and must provide proof of completion of the first year/fundamentals of nursing.
• Knowledge of basic nursing techniques and aseptic practices.
• Ability to communicate effectively, written and verbal, and maintain good relations with patients, families, physicians and staff.
• BLS certification required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Obtain vital signs, height, weight and demographic data.
• Assist patients with personal and daily care (bathing, oral hygiene, shaving, hair care).
• Assist with urinary catheter removal, finger stick blood sugars, bladder scans, urine and stool specimen collection, ostomy care and drainage removal.
• Remove peripheral IVs as directed by RN.
• Deliver meals and assist feeding, document intake.
• Turn and reposition immobile patients and assist mobility program.
• Transport patients to treatment areas.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with personal and daily care, such as bathing, oral hygiene, shaving and hair care
• Assist with urinary catheter removal, finger stick blood sugars, bladder scans, routine urine and stool specimen collection, ostomy care and emptying drainage receptacles/tubes
• Remove peripheral IV’s as directed by RN (may not remove any IV’s located in antecubital fossa or higher)
• Deliver meals and snacks, feed patients who are unable to feed themselves and document oral intake
• Turn and position immobile patients safely while maintaining proper body alignment; participate in mobility program
• Transport patients to designated areas, such as to and from various treatment centers

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in an accredited nursing school (ADN or BSN program) - must provide proof of completion of the first year/fundamentals of nursing (or equivalent)
• Knowledge of basic nursing techniques and procedures and aseptic practices
• Requires the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to follow written and verbal instructions, and to maintain effective working relations with others including patients, families, physicians and other hospital associates.
• BLS certification required upon hire
