Job summary

Select Specialty Hospital – North Knoxville seeks a Student Nurse Technician (Future Registered Nurse) who is currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN). The role supports patient care, vital signs, personal care, and basic procedures under RN supervision.

Per Diem schedule with $21.00 hourly compensation; BLS required upon hire. This is an opportunity to gain hands-on experi­ence aligned with NCLEX requirements in a high‑quality inpatient setting.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in an accredited nursing school (ADN or BSN) - must provide proof of completion of the first year/fundamentals of nursing (or equivalent).
• Knowledge of basic nursing techniques and aseptic practices.
• Must communicate effectively, follow instructions, and maintain good relations with patients and staff.
• BLS certification required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Obtain vital signs, height, weight and demographic data.
• Assist patients with personal and daily care (bathing, oral hygiene, shaving, hair care).
• Assist with urinary catheter removal, finger stick blood sugars, bladder scans, routine urine and stool specimens, ostomy care and drainage tubes.
• Remove peripheral IVs as directed by RN.
• Deliver meals and snacks, assist patients unable to feed themselves, document intake.
• Turn and position immobile patients and participate in mobility program.
• Transport patients to designated areas.
