Job summary

Select Specialty Hospital in Gulfport, MS is seeking a Student Nurse Tech who is currently enrolled in an ADN or BSN program. You will support patient care during night shifts (7:00 PM–7:00 AM) and help with basic nursing tasks under RN supervision.

You must maintain proof of year-one coursework and a current BLS certification upon hire. This role offers hands-on experience aligned with NCLEX preparation and nursing education requirements.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN).
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare staff.
• Knowledge of basic nursing techniques and aseptic practices.
• BLS certification required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Obtain vital signs, height, weight and demographic data.
• Assist patients with personal and daily care (bathing, oral hygiene, shaving, hair care).
• Assist with urinary catheter removal, finger stick glucose tests, bladder scans, urine/stool specimen collection, ostomy care and drainage management.
• Remove peripheral IVs as directed by RN.
• Deliver meals, assist with feeding and document intake.
• Turn and position immobile patients safely and assist mobility.
• Transport patients to treatment centers as needed.

Position: Student Nurse Tech (Future Registered Nurse)

Location: Gulfport, MS

Schedule: 12-hour shifts - 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (Night Shift)

Compensation: $17

Key Responsibilities

• Obtain vital signs, height, weight and demographic data
• Assist patients with personal and daily care, such as bathing, oral hygiene, shaving and hair care
• Assist with urinary catheter removal, finger stick blood sugars, bladder scans, routine urine and stool specimen collection, ostomy care and emptying drainage receptacles/tubes
• Remove peripheral IV's as directed by RN (may not remove any IV's located in antecubital fossa or higher)
• Deliver meals and snacks, feed patients who are unable to feed themselves and document oral intake
• Turn and position immobile patients safely while maintaining proper body alignment; participate in mobility program
• Transport patients to designated areas, such as to and from various treatment centers

Minimum Qualifications

• Current enrollment in an accredited nursing school (ADN or BSN program) - must provide proof of completion of the first year/fundamentals of nursing (or equivalent)
• Knowledge of basic nursing techniques and procedures and aseptic practices
• Requires the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to follow written and verbal instructions, and to maintain effective working relations with others including patients, families, physicians and other hospital associates.
