Job summary

Select Specialty Hospital - Omaha is seeking a Student Nurse Tech (Future Registered Nurse) for per diem, 12-hour shifts, days or nights in Omaha, NE. The role supports basic nursing tasks while you advance toward RN licensure and NCLEX readiness.

Students must be enrolled in an ADN/BSN program and provide proof of year-one fundamentals. A strong foundation in aseptic technique and basic nursing skills is required, with BLS certification expected upon hire.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in an accredited nursing school (ADN or BSN) and must provide proof of completion of the first year/fundamentals of nursing (or equivalent).
• Knowledge of basic nursing techniques and aseptic practices.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to follow written and verbal instructions, and to maintain effective working relations with others including patients, families, physicians and other hospital associates.
• BLS certification required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Obtain vital signs, height, weight and demographic data.
• Assist patients with personal and daily care, such as bathing, oral hygiene, shaving and hair care.
• Assist with urinary catheter removal, finger stick blood sugars, bladder scans, routine urine and stool specimen collection, ostomy care and emptying drainage receptacles/tubes.
• Remove peripheral IVs as directed by RN.
• Deliver meals and snacks, feed patients who are unable to feed themselves and document oral intake.
• Turn and position immobile patients safely while maintaining proper body alignment; participate in mobility program.
• Transport patients to designated areas, such as to and from various treatment centers.
