This transition position is offered to unlicensed graduates of an RN academic nursing program accredited through the NLNAC or CCNE. Apprentice Nurse Program (ANP) functions in a supportive role to a registered nurse and collaborates with the healthcare team to manage patient care. It provides students with experience in caring for a diverse patient population and developing communication and organizational skills. Students report to the Manager of the Nurse Residency Program and/or Nursing Unit Manager or designee. Clinical responsibilities are coordinated by the clinical supervisor. ANPs perform direct patient care, obtain vital signs, collect specimens, document intake/output, communicate effectively, promote patient safety, and work as part of the healthcare team. Adherence to Baystate Health policies, laws, and regulations is mandatory.
