Job summary

Yale New Haven Health is seeking a student nurse assistant to support patient care under the supervision of the Clinical Nurse. The role includes basic nursing tasks, vital signs, and direct patient assistance within a collaborative team.

The position requires enrollment in an accredited nursing program, successful completion of foundational nursing skills, and CPR certification. Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds is required, with standard hospital duties and patient-focused care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Currently enrolled in an accredited School/Department of Nursing program.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of the Clinical Nurse, engages in selected tasks and activities to assist in assessment, planning and evaluation of patient needs; obtains and records vital signs as delegated by the RN.
• Under the direction of the Clinical Nurse, performs technical duties and selected treatments and activities to support safe and efficient patient care; obtains a 12-lead ECG and continuous Lead II with correct patient information.
• Assists in patient care with attention to safety across key populations and collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to address patient/family needs.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, and staff; covers the BA desk in the absence of the BA under supervision.
