Job summary

MedStar St. Mary's Hospital in Leonardtown, MD is seeking a Nurse Extern to support Registered Nurses in patient care and health teaching. You will assist with implementing care plans, documenting patient data, and helping with admissions and discharge processes.

Must be enrolled as a senior nursing student, complete clinical nursing coursework, and obtain CPR certification by orientation end. This role includes intravenous care, blood draws, and basic patient support within a team environment.

Qualifications

• Active enrollment as senior nursing student in an accredited nursing program.
• Successful completion of 1 year of a Clinical Nursing Program including Fundamentals of Nursing (or the equivalent)
• Must obtain CPR certification by the end of the orientation period and maintain current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist Registered Nurse with health teaching plans and nursing care.
• Assist with patient care as delegated by the Registered Nurse.
• Support transport of patients, specimens, equipment, and supplies.
• Collaborate with the RN to organize patient care assignments.
• Assist with patient admissions and develop the nursing plan of care.
• Document relevant patient information and maintain privacy.
