Cal Poly Associated Students, Inc. is hiring a Lifeguard to supervise the PEAC Pool and pool area during recreational swimming hours and programs at the Cal Poly Maritime Academy on the Solano Campus in Vallejo, CA.

The role emphasizes maintaining a safe environment, opening/closing the pool, and documenting usage and safety reports. Applicants should be enrolled students with Lifeguard and First Aid training preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be a currently enrolled Cal Poly student with a minimum of 6 units (graduate students must carry 4).
• Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid preferred (or equivalent).
• Title 22 First Aid or EMT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Secure pool facility upon opening and closing.
• Maintain daily usage and pool chemical statistics.
• Report equipment, supplies, safety, and maintenance needs.
• Prepare pool facilities for scheduled activities.
• Ensure a safe environment for all participants.
• Prepare incident and injury reports as needed.
• Maintain familiarity with evacuation plans for work area.
• Attend mandatory meetings and trainings.
• Provide quality customer service for staff and customers.
• Maintain awareness of safety concerns and risk management.
• Maintain working relationships with staff and co-workers.
• Adhere to ASI policies and procedures.
