Job summary

Associated Students in Vallejo, CA is looking for an Intermittent Lifeguard to supervise the PEAC Pool during recreational swimming hours. Responsibilities include ensuring a safe environment, managing daily usage statistics, and securing the pool facility. Candidates must be certified in Lifeguarding and CPR.

This position works on an as-needed basis and offers an hourly pay rate of $17.40. Availability for early mornings, late nights, and weekends is required.

Qualifications

Current American Red Cross certification in Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers required.
Previous lifeguard experience preferred.
Ability to work in a team setting and independently.

Responsibilities

Secure pool facility upon opening and closing.
Maintain daily usage and pool chemical statistics.
Ensure a safe environment for all participants.

Skills

Current American Red Cross certification in Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid

Title 22 First Aid or EMT certification

Previous lifeguard experience

Definition&Purpose

Under the supervision of theAssistantDirector—RecreationalProgramsandFacility Operations, theIntermittentLifeguardis responsible forthe supervision ofPEACPooland pool area during recreational swimming hours and fitness and instructional program hours.General responsibilities are to ensure that a safe and enjoyable environment ismaintained.Lifeguards are also responsible for opening and securing pool facilities.

This position is based at the Cal Poly Maritime Academy on the Cal Poly Solano Campus in Vallejo, CA.

Educational Requirements&Qualifying Experience

CurrentAmerican Red Crosscertification in Lifeguardingwith CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid(or equivalent)isrequired.
Title 22 First Aid or EMTcertification ispreferred.
Previouslifeguard experience preferred.
Ability to be highly organized and have good planning skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work witha wide range ofpopulations.
Ability to be flexible and adapt to change.
Ability to perform detailed work with accuracy.
Ability to workin a team settingor independently, as the situation requires.
Ability to respond to and followallappropriate emergencyprocedures.

Essential Duties&Responsibilities

Secure pool facility upon opening and closing.
Maintain daily usageand pool chemicalstatistics.
Reportequipment, supplies, safety, and maintenance needs.
Prepare pool facilities for scheduled activities.
Ensure a safe environment for all participants.
Prepare incident and injury reportsas needed.
Maintain familiarity with evacuationplansforworkarea.
Attend all mandatory meetings, workshops, retreats, and In-Service Training sessions.
Provide quality customer service for all staff and customers.
Maintain awareness of safety concerns and risk management.
Maintain a working relationship with staff andco-workers.
Adhere to and enforce all ASI departmental policies and procedures.
Commitment toprofessionaldevelopment, leadership, and teamwork.

Other Duties&Responsibilities

The person holding this position is considered a "mandated reporter" under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and isrequiredtocomply withthe requirementsset forth inASI policy as a condition of their employment.

Background Check

Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) isrequiredfor employment. ASI will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current ASI employee who was conditionally offered the position.
