Job summary

The County of Volusia is seeking one (1) Student Worker for the Ormond Beach Regional Library in the Library Services Division. The position handles shelving, check-in/out, and general library clerical duties, with a focus on accuracy and customer service.

These positions are temporary part-time (10 hours per week). Candidates must be an active high school or college student and pass a background check; valid Florida driver’s license may be required depending on assignment.

Qualifications

• Must be an active high school or college student.
• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• College/university student must be enrolled full-time (Fall/Spring min 12 credits or Summer min 9 credits).
• Temporary part-time status at 10 hours per week; not benefits.
• Must pass required background check.
• Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license within 30 days of appointment.
• Knowledge of shelving numerical sorting and alphabetization.
• Knowledge of basic computer skills.
• Knowledge of basic customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• shelve library materials and assist with charging/discharging items.
• Retrieve materials and assist patrons with locating items.
• Perform shelf-reading to keep items in order.
• Assist with general library clerical duties as needed.
• May be assigned to other county locations based on needs.
