Job summary

Wilkinson County School District in Wilkinson County Elementary School seeks a Teacher Assistant to support classroom teachers, reinforce lessons, supervise students, and assist with records and daily activities.

Under the supervision of certified staff, the role involves one-on-one tutoring, small group work, preparation, and collaboration with families to foster student learning in a safe, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Hold an associate degree or higher.
• Two Years or 48 College Credit Hours (Transcript verification required).
• High School Diploma/GED AND Verification of WorkKeys Silver Level Certification.
• Prior experience working with children desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, and other skills.
• Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce learning and implement programs.
• Assist in the administration and correction of classroom exercises, tests and assessments.
• Assist with classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing instructional materials and skills based on student needs.
• Assist with record-keeping procedures to document student learning and performance.
• Assist with classroom behavioral management to minimize disruptions and maintain a safe, orderly classroom.
• Assist students in non-instructional areas such as lunch, bus, playground, corridors, study hall, and related duties.
• Accompany students on field trips for supervision.
• Construct, copy and distribute educational materials as needed.
• Assist with parent contact to foster involvement in student education.
• Assist students with special needs to maximize inclusion and achievement, including IEP objectives.
• Participate in IEP process and serve as resource for the team as needed.
• Assist students with physical or mental disabilities to participate in school activities.
• Follow safety rules and regulations governing assistance for all students.
• Assist guidance or building administration as needed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
