Kansas City University’s Joplin Campus seeks a Learning Specialist to support student success by delivering learning enhancement services across KCU colleges. You will collaborate with the Director of Learning Enhancement to integrate accessible learning supports for all students and programs.

The role emphasizes evidence-based coaching, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and data-informed interventions to improve learning outcomes and student independence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in counseling, education, or related discipline.
• Five years of experience working with students in graduate, professional, health professions, or other rigorous educational environments.
• Experience supporting learners across multiple academic disciplines or professional programs.
• Knowledge of assessment, academic-performance data, learning analytics, or early-alert systems.
• Experience developing educational resources, workshops, curricula, or scalable student-learning interventions.
• Familiarity with health profession education and/or graduate programs.

Responsabilités

• Engage students individually and in group learning activities with evidence-based strategies.
• Apply principles of learning, cognition, memory, and metacognition to support students.
• Collaborate across disciplines with faculty and academic leaders to deliver targeted learning enhancements.
• Build student-centered relationships, set expectations, and coordinate with partners.
• Help students identify learning patterns, barriers, and develop transfer strategies.
• Use coaching techniques to promote independence, reflection, and accountability.
• Provide proactive and responsive learning support and workshops.
• Use performance data to guide conversations, interventions, and follow-up.
• Maintain FERPA-compliant records and contribute to the Learning Enhancement team.

Bachelor's degree
