Position Summary:
The Shamblin lab seeks laboratory assistants for wildlife and fisheries sample processing and DNA extractions for population genetic analyses. This position will assist graduate students and the lab manager with sample tracking, processing of blood, eggshell, skin, fin clips, and swab samples, and DNA extractions for genotyping and sequencing for fish and wildlife species of conservation concern.
Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates pursuing BS degree in biology, genetics, marine science, or wildlife/fisheries preferred. Previous laboratory experience is a plus, but not necessary.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies:
Ideal candidates work well independently or in groups. Attention to detail is critical, despite repetitious tasks. Good organizational and interpersonal skills are essential.
Physical Demands:
This position is laboratory based. Candidates should be able to sit or stand at the bench for extended periods. This position may occasionally require lifting boxes up to 40 pounds.
