Details | Full/Part Time Status:Part Time Percent Time:50% (up to 20 hours per week) Position Description: The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science is seeking a undergraduate Student Research Assistant (PZ07) interested in assisting in research to find treatments for genetic causes of blindness in children. Duties of the Student Research Assistant position to include:
Supervision Received: General supervision is received from the study PI. Immediate supervision is received from Post-doctoral fellow and other laboratory and clinical supervisory personnel. Education Requirement: The candidate should be a freshman or higher undergraduate with a major in a STEM field. Experience with hands-on laboratory courses and interest in a career in medicine or science is preferred. Required Qualifications:Willing to handle and work with small animals (training is provided); excellent oral and written communication skills; strong organizational skills; must be proficient with computer software including MicroSoft Office, Adobe Acrobat and Excel database software; prior experience in a laboratory setting. Desirable Qualifications: Knowledge of medical and genetic terminology. Experience or previous course work in the research process, especially in either animal or ophthalmology research. |
