Research Assistant - Iowa Institute for Oral Health and Research

We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented individual to contribute to projects involving DNA, RNA, and protein analysis. Responsibilities
  1. Plan and conduct DNA, RNA, and protein research experiments based on established protocols.
  2. Perform molecular techniques including extraction and manipulation of DNA, RNA, and proteins.
  3. Modify existing protocols and develop new experimental procedures.
  4. Ensure research quality and data integrity following QA standards.
  5. Maintain accurate documentation.
  6. Analyze data using statistical software.
  7. Assist in writing manuscripts, grant proposals, and reports.
  8. Present findings at lab meetings and update the Principal Investigator.
  9. Follow safety regulations and maintain documentation.
  10. Perform lab maintenance and monitor supplies.
  11. Train and mentor undergraduate students or lab personnel.
  12. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Position Details

Title: Research Assistant – PRK1 (Specified Term)

Department: College of Dentistry – Pediatric Dentistry

Salary: $49,968 to commensurate (Pay Grade: 3A)

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm

This position is onsite with no required travel.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, biomedical sciences, chemistry, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with DNA, RNA, and protein extraction and manipulation.
  • Experience with statistical software like GraphPad Prism.
